Europeana Inside (ECK) GuideMarch 2015

In 2012 the Europeana Inside project started with the vision that cultural institutions should be able to easily provide content to Europeana. With this vision and the goal of lowering barriers to content sharing, the ECK – Easy Connection Kit – has been created. The ECK is a piece of software and documentation toolkit that has been integrated into existing commercial and open source Collection Management Systems as well as into aggregators. Moreover, the components that make up the ECK can be integrated into other systems for free.

Finland Update!November 2014

Seven delegates of the National Board of Antiquities from Finland visited the zetcom office in Berlin. Discussions included ongoing project activities and finalization of the data mapping following the completion of the initial 'concept' phase.

We are confident that we will reach our target of integrating several databases from different collection management systems into one system by the end of next year. Shortly we are entering the prototyping phase which includes the data migration and testing.

We are looking forward to the next meeting!

Finland: Big Win for zetcom!May 2014

Our zetcom team is very proud to announce the decision of the National Board of Antiquities (NBA) in Helsinki to use MuseumPlusRIA as the new national Collection Management System!

The worldwide leading Collection Management System developers competed in a Europe-wide tendering procedure for this prestigious "Museum 2015" project. The goal of the "Museum 2015" project is to establish a central CMS for five pilot museums within one year and then distribute the new system to more Finnish museums. The webbased MuseumPlusRIA was rated the best system within this very thorough procurement process.

The large and diverse collections of the piloting museums are part of the Museum of Finnish Architecture, the Tuusla Art Museum, the Kuopio Museum of Cultural History, the Finnish National Gallery and the National Board of Antiquities.

We look very much forward to working with the NBA team as well as the piloting museums and the Finnish museums in general!

Two leading Greek museums are now part of the MuseumPlus familyJune 2013

  • The Museum of Archaeology and History of the Art
  • The Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation (Andros Contemporary Art Museum)

Both museums have chosen to introduce the flagship MuseumPlus solution as the core system to their documentation departments. The adoption of MuseumPlus is of great importance to these museums and opens the way to potentially having their collections uploaded in a format compatible with Europeana, the European Digital Library. MuseumPlus is Europeana compliant.

MuseumPlus is the most-used collection management system in Greece and is exclusively represented in Greece, Cyprus, Turkey and the Balkans by PostScriptum, a well-established Greek company in the area of Digital Heritage and zetcom’s partner in Greece.

The City Museum of Athens now works with MuseumPlusJune 2013

The Museum of the City of Athens has just acquired MuseumPlus. It was a crucial decision for the Museum since they have to successfully migrate 25.000 items of their diverse collections and databases of paintings, engravings, sculptures, pieces of furniture and important relics of modern Greek history, which represent a panorama of the evolution of Athens since the Frankish domination in the Middle Ages. By means of zetcom’s complementary eMuseumPlus solution, the Museum will be able to showcase various thematic virtual exhibitions on its web site in the near future.

Photographs can now be documented in a specific category and the vocabulary has been adapted to adequately describe photographs. This important adaptation to the off-the-shelf version of MuseumPlus is the result of a collaboration by an interdisciplinary working group comprising professionals from museums, libraries and archives in the region. The results will be presented on May 30th at the Barcelona Maritime Museum under the auspices of the Catalonian regional government’s Department of Culture.
