Meet Norbert, zetcom’s Director of Product Management

Today we’d like to introduce you to Norbert Kanter, Director of Product Management at zetcom and based in Berlin, Germany.

A Day in the Life

The life of a Director of Product Management can vary quite a bit, ranging from detailed product feature plans to big-picture product roadmap strategies. At zetcom, Norbert is responsible for determining the product roadmap for the next years, taking into account client feedback, industry trends, feedback from the delivery team, and internal innovation. He oversees a small team, who act as a spoke in the wheel that is zetcom.

Norbert has been with zetcom since 2000, starting the Berlin office and performing a variety of tasks, from managing the office to overseeing distribution throughout the last 23 years. Eventually, Norbert utilized the variety of his experiences and moved into his current role as Director of Product Management.

Product Management at zetcom

One of the most important tasks for the Product Management team is to prioritize product feature requests. The team meets weekly to discuss the requests and assess their reach, feasibility, impact and integration into the company’s overall strategy. Once a feature has been approved, it can take anywhere from 1 months to a year to realize it. This is because the Product Management team has to work with departments, coordinating schedules and timelines to bring the product from concept to launch.

Before launching a product, the Product Management team ensures that the internal team is trained and that training documentation is created for future reference. Recently, the Product Management team announced plans to hold monthly internal trainings, not just for new products, but also on general topics to continue to reinforce the knowledge base of all of zetcom’s employees.

About Norbert

Norbert has a passion for art history and favorite museums like the Louvre Abu Dhabi or the Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin. He studied Art History at university and worked for one of the first collections management software companies in the early 90s. At that time, he held positions that would now be CTO and CDO, during what was surely an exciting time for technology.

Today, Norbert is most excited about the integration of AI, AR, and VR into the human experience, and how this will impact museums and collections management. Regardless, his passion for technology and the cultural sector continues to shape their work at zetcom, where he ensures that the company’s products remain at the forefront of the industry.

To Conclude

The life of a Director of Product Management is a busy one, filled with tasks that range from the minutiae of product features to the big-picture strategy of the product roadmap. Norbert and his team navigates these tasks with skill and passion, ensuring that zetcom’s products remain innovative and world class.
