The State of the Museum Software Industry

The State of the Museum Management Software Industry through 2030

An updated report by Strait Research has determiend that the Global Museum Management Software Market is booming worldwide and is expected to grow at a CAGR of ~8.5% during the period of 2022 to 2030.

Some of the key factors that will be driving the marketing include: rising tourism and government initiatives, rising need for digitization in institutions, fine art and crafts, historical, and legal services.

Considering the importance of digitalization, research shows that the web-based segment is projected to take the largest market share with the bonus capability of customization per the client's needs. The ability to prioritize user experience for potential clients is huge considering the technical and digital knowledge gap that may be present depending on the size and topic of each particular museum.

Europe is expected to hold the highest market share in the Museum Management Software Market for the foreseeable future, backed by global investments and government support in terms of museum development and management. Recently the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport invested about USD 62.03 million every year for the next five years for the maintenance and development of museums in the U.K. - this is one example of what opportunities are coming.

North America is the fastest-growing region for museum management software, containing approximately 21,000 museums of art, history, science, and military and war, which drives the demand for museum management software.

This is such an exciting time for the industry and with what our product team at zetcom continues, we look forward to contributing to the success of the industry overall.

zetcom introduces new data standard at CIDOC

It's been a busy few weeks at zetcom: last week at the CIDOC Conference in Tallinn (Estonia), zetcom presented the beta implementation of a new data standard in MuseumPlus.

After more than three years of development by the Documentation Standards Working Group, it is now possible to automatically send object loan data easily from one Collection Management System to another.

We presented the data exchange between MODES and MuseumPlus live at the event and this new data exchange standard will save all our clients precious time during each loan procedure!

The final release is planned for later this year. We’ll keep you posted!

"

The Zorn Museum has the world’s largest collection of works by artist Anders Zorn (1860–1920). Watercolors, oil paintings, sculptures, drawings, and etchings by the famous Swede are always on display, as well as parts of his vast art collections. The museum also produces temporary exhibitions several times each year.

The Zorn Museum was opened in 1939 in a building designed by Swedish architect, Ragnar Östberg, known best for Stockholm City Hall among his other works.

We are honored to have welcomed the National Film and Sound Archive to the zetcom family!

Because we cannot say it any better, here's how the National Film and Sound Archive describe themselves:

"

The NFSA’s mission is to collect, preserve and share Australia’s vibrant and diverse audiovisual culture as embodied by our evolving collection – reflecting who we were, who we are, and who we want to be.

Audiovisual technologies enable us to capture moments in time: moving image and sounds in their most vivid forms. At over 3 million items, the NFSA collection transforms these records into ‘living memories’ – the many facets of Australia’s peoples, cultures, ideas and beliefs, both over time and across the land.

The collection invites all Australians to connect, no matter their background and life experiences, and find common ground and a shared sense of community. All can access it to celebrate our cultures and learn from our history to build a better future.
