We are proud to have won the tender of the Australian War Memorial in Canberra with MuseumPlus for a fully integrated collection management software solution.

The Australian War Memorial combines a shrine, a world-class museum, and an extensive archive. The Memorial's purpose is to commemorate the sacrifice of those Australians who have died in war or on operational service and those who have served our nation in times of conflict. Its mission is to lead remembrance and understanding of Australia’s wartime experience. As a national cultural institution, the Australian War Memorial houses and manages Australia's most extensive collection of records, artefacts and art works relating to the Australian experience of war and operational service.

More than a million visitors frequent the cultural monument in the national capital Canberra per year. The comparison to Australia's population of 25 million underscores its national rank.

With a comprehensive modernization project, the Australian War Memorial will undertake structural modifications through 2028. At the same time, investments will be made in a new IT landscape. As part of the IT modernization, the Australian War Memorial was looking for a combined solution consisting of a collection management system (CMS) and a digital asset management system (DAMS).

Fully integrated solution harmonizes IT infrastructure

In a comprehensive tendering process lasting several months, zetcom earned the selection with MuseumPlus. The web-based software MuseumPlus has been tried and tested many times by users of similar size and complexity. For the Australian War Memorial, MuseumPlus will be installed to offer its full functional range.

The software supports all processes of the cultural institution: from acquisitions, donations, planning and implementation of collection-related events, exhibition operations, archiving of narratives to the dispatch of objects from the collection. MuseumPlus also opens the way for connecting future workflow processes for the Australian War Memorial.

The integrated solution of CMS and DAMS is intended to standardize the IT infrastructure. Collection management and asset management will be fully integrated. This will make cultural heritage for the Australian War Memorial much more accessible and manageable in the future.

Dominik Gertsch (Head of Sales and Marketing, zetcom) says: “After the intensive selection process and after the first focused specification workshops, we are looking forward to further work for the Australian War Memorial. We will offer more than just a technical solution. With MuseumPlus and our expertise, our client will achieve its long-term IT vision successfully.”

With its size, its exclusive location in Canberra and its compelling IT functionality, the Australian War Memorial creates a unique dynamic setting for cultural heritage and for the public. zetcom is proud to support our Australian client in this endeavor.
